Students from Michelle Gauci Academy (MGA) took to the stage at Burgess Hall, St Ives this March, delivering four vibrant performances of Disney’s High School Musical JR. in a weekend full of energy, teamwork and unforgettable moments.

Performed on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March, the production brought together young performers from across the academy, alongside new faces from the wider community. In a first for MGA’s Junior Musical programme, the show was open to participants beyond the academy, creating a unique and inclusive experience that reflected the spirit of collaboration at the heart of the production.

From the very first rehearsals through to the final curtain call, the journey to the stage was filled with dedication, creativity and a strong sense of teamwork. Behind the scenes, staff, volunteers and families worked tirelessly to bring the production together, from building the set and organising technical elements to preparing over 150 costumes for the cast.

The performances themselves were full of confidence and character, as students brought the story of East High to life with well-known songs including We’re All in This Together and Stick to the Status Quo. Across all four shows, audiences were treated to high-energy routines, strong ensemble work and plenty of memorable moments that had the crowd laughing, clapping and fully engaged.

Michelle Gauci, founder of Michelle Gauci Academy, said:

“This year’s Junior Musical has been incredibly special. Not only did we see our students grow in confidence and performance, but it was also fantastic to welcome young performers from outside the academy and see them become part of our MGA community. The teamwork, commitment and support shown throughout the process was something we’re really proud of.”

The production highlighted the values at the core of MGA - confidence, creativity and community. For many of the young performers, the experience offered an opportunity to step onto the stage, develop new skills and build friendships, while being part of something bigger.

Events like the Junior Musical continue to play an important role in the academy’s programme, offering accessible performance opportunities for children and young people of all experience levels. By opening the production to the wider community, MGA reinforced its commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for anyone with an interest in performing arts.

Following a hugely successful weekend, the academy now looks ahead to its upcoming Summer Show, where even more students will have the opportunity to perform on stage and continue building their confidence through the arts.
